For Malayalee maggas : open your eyes and read -PALM BAY, Fla. — Several Brevard County leaders are speaking out after posts on a Palm Bay city councilman's X page that attacked Indian Americans. “Silence can lead to violence, and so I felt very convicted to speak up this time,” Palm Bay city councilman Kenny Johnson said. The controversy stems from several posts on Councilman Chandler Langevin’s social media account. One post from Sept. 26 said, “Deport every Indian immediately.” Another post from Sept. 28 stated, “There’s not a single Indian that cares about the United States.” Langevin has faced backlash before. In February, he wrote a lengthy post claiming Islam is “neither peaceful nor strictly a religion,” calling it a “political ideology.” He also recently hosted a march to celebrate the life of Charlie Kirk. A flyer for the event stated it would be for “all victims of left-wing evil.” “When you come at the Muslim community or the Indian community or say ‘left-wing evil’—these are people who conduct business in the city of Palm Bay,” Johnson said. The recent posts prompted Palm Bay’s mayor, Rob Medina, to send a letter to residents, saying in part, “Words that demean or devalue others have no place in Palm Bay.” In response to the mayor's letter, Langevin posted that he did not agree with the mayor's words, adding, "diversity is not our strength and no conservative would ever say that." Johnson has also added an agenda item to Thursday’s council meeting. He is requesting a discussion and possible vote on recommending that the city attorney write a letter to the governor asking for Langevin’s removal from office. We reached out to Langevin and Medina for comment but have not hear back. In a post made Tuesday evening on his X account, Langevin said, in part, "I stand by my comments. Palm Bay will not become Dallas or Dearborn." He went on to highlight some of the things he has helped accomplish in his 10 months as a city councilman.
