Six articles of impeachment filed against Pete Hegseth. War crimes, illegal strikes, and classified leaks. Arizona Representative Yassamin Ansari, the first Iranian-American Democrat elected to Congress, filed the articles Wednesday with twelve cosponsors. The charges are specific, documented, and devastating. Article by article, here's what they accuse him of: launching a war against Iran without congressional authorization, in direct violation of the Constitution's requirement that only Congress can declare war. Willful disregard for his oath of office. Reckless endangerment of American service members deployed across the Middle East. Approving strikes on civilians, including the bombing of a girls' school in Minab, Iran. Approving illegal "double tap" strikes on noncombatant boats in the Caribbean. Gross negligence in handling classified military information, a reference to the Signalgate scandal where war plans were shared on a group chat. And inappropriate politicization of the American military. "Pete Hegseth broke his oath to the Constitution, put U.S. troops at grave risk through the unauthorized disclosure of classified information, engaged in abuse of office and conduct beneath the dignity of his office, and carried out unlawful military actions despite his obligation to refuse," Ansari said. This is the same man who holds monthly worship services at the Pentagon where he prays for "overwhelming violence" and reads fake Bible verses from Pulp Fiction. Who fired the Army Chief of Staff out of paranoia. Who blocked promotions of Black and female officers. Who carries a Bible stamped with the Crusaders' battle cry "Deus Vult." Who said "not a single thing we've done has put an American troop in more harm's way" while the Pentagon's own data shows nearly 400 wounded and 13 dead. The articles won't advance while Republicans hold the House. Everyone knows that. But they put every charge on the official record. They name the strikes. They name the school. They name the constitutional violations. And if Democrats win the House in November, these articles are already written and waiting. Ansari said it plainly: "Only Congress can declare war. His actions demand immediate removal." Thirteen members of Congress just formally accused the Secretary of Defense of war crimes. It’s not just rhetoric. It’s official.
