ആരോപണങ്ങള്‍, ട്രംപ് ബാഗ്ദാദിയെ പട്ടി എന്നുവിളിച്ചു, മിന്നലാക്രമണത്തിനുമുന്‍പ്, നാന്‍സി പോലോസി പോലുള്ള കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്സ് നേതാക്കളോട് പറഞ്ഞില്ല, മിലിറ്ററിയാണ് എല്ലാം ചെയ്തത് ട്രംപിന് അതിനൊന്നും ഒരു കഴിവുമില്ല.

ഇതെല്ലാം കേള്‍ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ തോന്നും ബിന്‍ലാദനെ വധിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ഒബാമയായിരുന്നു മിന്നലാക്രമണത്തില്‍ സേനയെ യുദ്ധക്കളത്തില്‍ നയിച്ചതെന്ന്? അന്നും യൂ സ് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്സും മറ്റു നേതാക്കളും അറിയുന്നത് നടപടികള്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം.

രണ്ടാമത് ഇമ്പീച്ഛ് നാടകം.പ്രസിഡന്‍റ്റ് ട്രംപ്, യുകെരെന്‍ രാജ്യത്തലവനുമായി നടത്തിയ ഫോണ്‍ സംസാരത്തിന്‍റ്റെ അനുലിഖിതം വൈറ്റ് ഹൌസ് പുറത്തുവിട്ടു. ഏതാനും തവണ ഈ ലേഖകനും വായിച്ചുനോക്കി അതില്‍ ഒരു ഇമ്പീച്ചു നടത്തുന്നതിനുള്ള കുറ്റം ട്രംപ് നടത്തിയതായി കാണുന്നില്ല.

സംസാരത്തിന്‍റ്റെ ആദ്യ ഭാഗത്തു വെറും തമ്മില്‍ തമ്മില്‍ പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നതാണ് കേള്‍ക്കുന്നത് അതിനുശേഷം ട്രംപ് 2016ലെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു സമയം ഡെമോക്രാറ്റ് പാര്‍ട്ടിയും, ഹില്ലരി ക്ലിന്‍റ്റന്‍ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പു സമിതിയും നേരിട്ട ഈമെയില്‍ മോഷ്ട്ടാക്കള്‍ യൂകരെന്‍കാരെന്നു കേള്‍ക്കുന്നു അതില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന അന്വേഷണങ്ങളില്‍ സഹായിക്കണം "ക്ലൗഡ് സ്‌െ്രെടക്" എന്ന നാമവും ട്രംപ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചു ഇതൊരു കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ രഷാ നടപടി ഇതില്‍ ഹില്ലാരിയെ സഹായിച്ചവരില്‍ യുകരെന്‍ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളും.

A man has been arrested after allegedly throwing acid in the face of a US citizen, who says his attacker told him to "go back to (his) country."

Milwaukee police say they arrested a 61-year-old man in connection with the attack against Mahud Villalaz that caused second-degree burns. Charges will be brought forward to the district attorney's Office in the next couple of days, Milwaukee Police public information officer Sgt. Sheronda Grant confirmed to CNN.

The attack occurred after the two men got into an argument Friday night, and the suspect threw acid on Villalaz, the police department said.

Villalaz told CNN affiliate WISN the argument was over how Villalaz had parked his car.

Villalaz said his attacker called him an "illegal" and told him to "get out of this country" before throwing acid in his face, WISN reported

"I believe (I) am a victim of a hate crime because (of) how he approached me," Villalaz told WISN.

Villalaz is a 42-year-old welder who has been in the United States for 19 years, according to Darryl Morin, president of Forward Latino. Morin is helping the family manage media requests and deal with the incident, he told CNN.

Morin said Villalaz is a US citizen originally from Peru.

"He's doing OK," Morin told CNN about Villalaz's condition. "He's in relatively good spirits understanding how bad things could have been."

Morin said Villalaz had to explain the incident to his wife and two young children. "They weren't able to understand how somebody could do this to a person without knowing them."

Democrats have launched a critical new phase of their impeachment investigation by releasing first transcripts of witness depositions as they seek to build a public case that President Donald Trump abused his power in a rogue foreign policy operation in Ukraine.

Three committees investigating the scandal released transcripts and summaries of closed-door interviews with the former US ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch and Michael McKinley, a former senior adviser to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

The move signals the start of a shift from closed-doors investigation of Trump's covert Ukraine policy into an attempt to convince Americans that he should be removed from office in dramatic televised hearings.

Signs that the release of testimony was imminent prompted Trump to issue a torrent of personal abuse against House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff, that was extraordinarily personal even by his own standards.

"House Republicans must have nothing to do with Shifty's rendition of those interviews. He is a proven liar, leaker & freak who is really the one who should be impeached!" Trump tweeted.

In the testimony released on Monday, Yovanovitch said she was shocked and felt threatened after learning that Trump attacked her on a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "bad news."

"I didn't know what it meant. I was very concerned. I still am," Yovanovitch said in the interview conducted on October 11.

The release of testimony came after it became clear that at least six executive branch insiders due to give depositions over the next few days would not show up. But this week could still have a sting in the tail.

Former national security adviser John Bolton, a fiery figure who was recently fired by Trump, is due to testify on Thursday -- though there are doubts over whether he will appear.

A Bolton sighting would spark a frenzy since other witnesses have testified that he decried Trump's decision to outsource Ukraine policy -- a caper one former senior official said he referred to as a "drug deal."

No one could be sure what Bolton might say. Would he stay loyal to his former boss or to the iconoclastic approach to foreign policy that steered him through a colorful career in Washington?

"I like John Bolton. I always got along with him," Trump said Sunday, misrepresenting his relationship with the renowned Washington bruiser in a possible sign of concern about his potential testimony. Asked whether Bolton speak up, Trump replied: " ... that's going to be up to him."

Democrats believe they have built a strong case that Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate a domestic rival -- Democratic 2020 candidate Joe Biden -- during weeks of depositions featuring career officials.

But if executive branch officials due to testify this week do not show up, they may reach a point when there is little to be gained by holding off a more visible phase of the inquiry. Party leaders believe they already have a strong enough case to go ahead without holdout witnesses, though more evidence could further bolster their confidence.

US appeals court decision Monday against President Donald Trump's effort to keep his tax returns from a grand jury marks the second major court ruling in recent weeks rejecting bold assertions from the President's lawyers that would shield him from investigation.

Both decisions are likely to be tested at the Supreme Court in upcoming months. Yet both were grounded in long-standing precedent and may face a tough road toward reversal.

These cases and others arising from investigators' efforts to obtain Trump documents or testimony began well before the US House of Representatives formalized its impeachment inquiry. Yet, as happened in litigation during the impeachment-related efforts against Richard Nixon in the early 1970s and Bill Clinton in the late 1990s, judges' rulings could determine the scope of evidence eventually available to House investigators.

Notably in the newest case, the New York-based federal appeals court rebuffed the Trump lawyers' broad assertion of immunity from criminal investigation.

Last month, during a 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals hearing, Trump lawyer Will Convoy told the appeals court judges that even if the President shot someone on Fifth Avenue in New York, he could not be subject to any state criminal proceeding while in office.

The 2nd Circuit panel sidestepped such hypothetical from that October 23 hearing, but the judges did emphasize that Consovoy had argued that the President, while he occupies the White House, is absolutely immune from all stages of a state criminal process.

"We have no occasion to decide today the precise contours and limitations of presidential immunity from prosecution," wrote Robert Katzmann, the chief judge for the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals. "Instead, after reviewing historical and legal precedent, we conclude only that presidential immunity does not bar the enforcement of a state grand jury subpoena directing a third party to produce non-privileged material, even when the subject matter under investigation pertains to the President."

New York District Attorney Cyrus Vance is looking into hush-money payments made to two women who claim they had affairs with Trump before he was President. Trump has denied having affairs with those women. A grand jury subpoenaed tax and other financial documents from Trump's longtime accountants, Mazars USA.

The possibility of taking this case by the supreme court is very seldom.

President Donald Trump asked that Attorney General William Barr hold a news conference clearing him of legal wrongdoing with regard to his phone call pressuring the Ukrainian President to investigate Democrats -- but Barr refused, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the paper reported that Trump's request came sometime around the White House's September 25 release of a transcript of the call. It was conveyed to White House officials and then the Justice Department. Trump has brought up Barr's refusal to aides over the past few weeks and how he wishes the attorney general had held the news conference, Trump advisers told the Post.

The Justice Department did not comment when reached by CNN on Wednesday.

Even without a news conference from the attorney general, the Justice Department gave the President nearly everything he wanted. In an orchestrated rollout alongside the release of a transcript of Trump's Ukraine call, the department publicly announced that criminal division prosecutors had found no wrongdoing by the President, at least as it relates to campaign finance law.

The department also released a legal memo on why the intelligence community's inspector general was not required to turn over a whistleblower complaint to Congress.

Despite efforts to publicly declare the matter as case closed, it is clear that the Ukraine interactions and the role of Rudy Giuliani, the President's personal lawyer, are still at the heart of an investigation led by federal prosecutors in New York.

Barr and Trump continue to have a good relationship, people close to the administration told the Post, while acknowledging that the department has at times positioned itself against the White House of late.

People close to Barr told the paper that the attorney general, though a backer of presidential power, has acknowledged the possibility of having to assert his department's autonomy.

"My take is that Barr hasn't changed one bit, that he has had a healthy distance from the beginning," a person close to the administration told the Post. "He knows the parameters of the relationship between a President and an AG."
