ആക്ടൺ (മസച്യുസെറ്റ്സ്):   അമ്മയെയും ഇളയ സഹോദരനെയും കൊലപ്പെടുത്തിയെന്ന കേസിൽ 17-കാരനായ   സ്‌കൂൾ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി അർജുൻ അരവിന്ദിനെ അറസ്റ് ചെയ്തു. രണ്ട് കൊലക്കുറ്റങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി കുറ്റങ്ങൾ ഇയാൾക്കെതിരെ  ചുമത്തി. ഓഗസ്റ് 11-നു ചൊവ്വാഴ്ചയാണ് സംഭവം.

കുടുംബത്തെ കൊലപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട സാങ്കൽപ്പിക ആശയങ്ങളും സിദ്ധാന്തങ്ങളും ഇന്റർനെറ്റിലും ChatGPT-യിലും ഇയാൾ തിരഞ്ഞതായി അന്വേഷണ സംഘം കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചു.

മിഡിൽസെക്സ് ജില്ലാ അറ്റോർണി മരിയൻ റയാൻ നടത്തിയ വാർത്താസമ്മേളനത്തിലാണ് അന്വേഷണത്തിന്റെ കൂടുതൽ വിവരങ്ങൾ പുറത്തുവിട്ടത്.

സംഭവത്തിൽ മരിച്ചത് 45-കാരിയായ സുധ വെങ്കടേശനും 14-കാരനായ മകൻ സിദ്ധാർത്ഥ് അരവിന്ദും ആണ്. ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച വൈകുന്നേരം ആക്ടണിലെ മാർത്ത ലെയ്‌നിലുള്ള വീട്ടിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഇരുവരുടെയും മൃതദേഹങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്.

പോലീസ് വീട്ടിനുള്ളിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഒന്നാം നിലയിൽ സിദ്ധാർത്ഥിനെയും ബേസ്‌മെന്റിൽ സുധയെയും മരിച്ച നിലയിൽ കണ്ടെത്തി. ഇരുവർക്കും ഗുരുതരമായ പരിക്കുകൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്ന് അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചു. മരണകാരണം സംബന്ധിച്ച അന്തിമ റിപ്പോർട്ട് മെഡിക്കൽ എക്സാമിനറുടെ ഓഫീസിൽ നിന്ന് ലഭിക്കാനുണ്ട്.

ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച വൈകുന്നേരം ഏകദേശം 6.30ഓടെ, പതിവായി വീട്ടിലെത്തുന്ന ഒരു ട്യൂട്ടർ വാതിൽ തുറക്കാത്തതിനെ തുടർന്ന് കുടുംബവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും സാധിച്ചില്ല. തുടർന്ന് വീട്ടുടമ കൂടിയായ അർജുന്റെ പിതാവ് പോലീസിനെ വിവരമറിയിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

വെൽഫെയർ ചെക്കിനായി എത്തിയ പോലീസ് വീട്ടിനുള്ളിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചപ്പോഴാണ് അമ്മയുടെയും മകന്റെയും മൃതദേഹങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. മൃതദേഹങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെത്തിയ സമയത്ത് അർജുൻ വീട്ടിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. അന്വേഷണത്തിൽ, മരിച്ച സുധയുടെ 2014 മോഡൽ പച്ച നിറത്തിലുള്ള ഹോണ്ട അക്കോർഡ് കാറും കാണാതായതായി വ്യക്തമായി.

രാത്രിയിലുടനീളം നടത്തിയ തിരച്ചിലിനൊടുവിൽ ബുധനാഴ്ച പുലർച്ചെ സമീപ നഗരമായ വേലൻഡിലെ ഒരു പാർക്കിങ് സ്ഥലത്ത് കാർ കണ്ടെത്തി. കാറിനുള്ളിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന അർജുനെ പോലീസ് യാതൊരു പ്രതിരോധവും കൂടാതെ കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷം അരവിന്ദിനെ കാണാതായതിനെ തുടർന്ന്  പോലീസ് അന്വേഷണം നടത്തിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അക്രമ സ്വഭാവമൊന്നും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

ആക്ടൺ-ബോക്സ്ബറോ റീജിയണൽ ഹൈസ്കൂളിലെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയാണ് അരവിന്ദ്.   ലിങ്ക്ഡ്ഇൻ പ്രൊഫൈൽ അനുസരിച്ച്, അയാൾ  'ആക്ടൺ-ബോക്സ്ബറോ റീജിയണൽ ഹൈസ്കൂളിലെ ജിജ്ഞാസാഭരിതനും  പ്രചോദിതനുമായ ഹൈസ്കൂൾ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയാണ്. സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യ, ബിസിനസ്സ്, ധനകാര്യം, മാർക്കറ്റിംഗ് എന്നിവയിൽ താൽപ്പര്യമുണ്ട്. പ്രോഗ്രാമിംഗിലും (ജാവ, സി++, പൈത്തൺ) മെഷീൻ ലേണിംഗിലും പരിചയസമ്പന്നനാണ്. റോബോട്ടിക്സിലും സ്റ്റാർട്ടപ്പുകളിൽ ഇന്റേൺഷിപ്പുകളിലും പ്രായോഗിക പ്രോജക്ടുകൾ ഉണ്ട്. ആദ്യത്തെ ലെഗോ ലീഗ് വേൾഡ് ചാമ്പ്യൻഷിപ്പിലേക്ക് മുന്നേറി.'

അന്വേഷണത്തിനിടെ, കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളെ കൊലപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട സാങ്കൽപ്പിക സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾ, ആശയങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ച് അർജുൻ ഇന്റർനെറ്റിലും ChatGPT-യിലും തിരച്ചിൽ നടത്തിയതായി തെളിവുകൾ ലഭിച്ചതായി ജില്ലാ അറ്റോർണി അറിയിച്ചു.

അർജുനെതിരെ രണ്ട് കൊലക്കുറ്റങ്ങൾക്കു പുറമെ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങൾക്കെതിരായ ആക്രമണം, സാധാരണ ആക്രമണം, അനുമതിയില്ലാതെ മോട്ടോർ വാഹനം ഉപയോഗിക്കൽ, വാഹന മോഷണം തുടങ്ങിയ കുറ്റങ്ങളും ചുമത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

പ്രായപൂർത്തിയാകാത്തതിനാൽ ചില നടപടികൾ ജുവനൈൽ കോടതിയിൽ നടന്നുവെങ്കിലും, കൊലക്കുറ്റങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട വിചാരണ കോൺകോർഡ് ജില്ലാ കോടതിയിൽ നടക്കുമെന്നാണ് അധികൃതർ വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.

Acton teen charged with murder in deaths of his mother and brother

An Acton teen accused of killing his mother and younger brother on Tuesday, Aug. 11, was using ChatGPT to create fantasy stories about killing his family, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said Wednesday.

During a press conference Wednesday at the Acton Police Department, Ryan said Arjun Aravind is suspected in the deaths of his mother, Sudha Venkatesan, 45, and his brother, Siddharth Aravind, 14.

Aravind is charged with two counts each of murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery on a family or household member. He is also charged with theft of a vehicle and using a vehicle without authority.
He was expected to be arraigned Wednesday, Aug. 12, in Lowell Juvenile Court for the two vehicle-related charges. He is then expected to be arraigned on the murder and assault charges on Thursday, Aug. 13, in Concord District Court.

DA Ryan: Teen used ChatGPT to ask questions 'about how to kill his family'
“Arjun had recently been demonstrating some concerning behavior, including using the internet and ChatGPT to make searches for theoretical ideas or fantasy stories of the killing of his family,” Ryan said during the press conference. “He was engaged in the use of ChatGPT creating fantasy stories, kind of a graphic novel kind of story, asking questions, creating characters, asking questions about how to kill his family.”

Ryan said the cause and manner of death are not known, and that authorities are awaiting the findings of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Father called for well-being check when he couldn't contact family
The investigation began at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday. Aravind’s father called police to conduct a well-being check after a visitor could not get into the home, which was unusual. After trying to call those in the home, he became concerned and called the police.
When police entered the Martha Lane home, they found Venkatesan in a finished basement and Siddharth Aravind on the first floor. They were suffering from “obvious trauma,” Ryan said.

It's not known when the two died or what or any weapons that were used. The father last saw Venkatesan at 7 a.m., when he left home; Siddharth Aravind arrived home shortly after noon from a local recreational facility, Ryan said.
Ryan said it's believed that after the slayings, Aravind took his mother’s car. Police put out an alert for the car on Tuesday evening. Hudson and Berlin Police visited the Shops at Highlands Commons part of the investigation but did not find him.
Unrelated alarm leads to Wayland Police finding Aravind
Wayland Police on Wednesday morning responded to an unrelated alarm at an Andrew Avenue business. Ryan said officers saw a vehicle that they recognized from the Acton Police alert, and found Aravind in the car. He was taken into custody.
Acton Police Chief Douglas Sturniolo said during Wednesday's press conference that police last year dealt with Aravind, who had run away, but there were no reports of any threatening behavior.

Aravind is a student at Acton-Boxboro Regional High School. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a “curious and motivated high school student at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School with interests in technology, business, finance and marketing. Experienced in programming (Java, C++, Python) and machine learning, with hands-on projects in robotics and internships at startups. Advanced to the FIRST LEGO League World Championship, building skills."
Ryan said the investigation remains “fluid,” and will continue.

"This is an unspeakable tragedy,” she said. “It is an incredibly dark day. Obviously, an insurmountable tragedy for the dad in this case. It is a very dark day for this community, for this school system. We are at the beginning of a very dark and long process."
