As America celebrates 250 years of independence, I wanted to reflect on what this country has meant not only to me, but to millions who came here searching for a better life.
Two hundred fifty years ago, thirteen colonies made the courageous decision to break away from the British and build a nation founded on liberty, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. Those ideals have been passed on for generations and continue to make America a symbol of hope and opportunity for people around the world.
One of America’s greatest strengths is its diversity. People from every corner of the globe have brought their cultures, cuisines, customs and faiths, helping shape this nation into what it is today. While we may have different backgrounds and opinions, we are united by the freedoms protected by our Constitution and the opportunities this country provides.

Like every nation, America has its challenges. We don’t always agree on politics or social issues, and that’s okay. But we should never allow those differences to overshadow what brings us together. Respect, gratitude, and a shared commitment to this great country will always matter more than division.
As an immigrant, America has given me opportunities I may never have had elsewhere. It welcomed my family, allowed us to build a better life, and gave us the freedom to dream, work hard, and create a future. That is something I will never take for granted.
I’ve always believed that if America has become your permanent home, becoming a United States citizen is more than a legal step: it’s a way of embracing the country that embraced you. It’s a chance to give back, participate fully in our democracy, and help shape the future of the nation that has given so many of us so much.

I proudly call myself an Indian American. I cherish the culture and values of my Indian heritage while wholeheartedly embracing the ideals of the country where my dreams found opportunity. I am grateful to the land of my birth and equally grateful to the nation that gave me the opportunity to build a better future.
As we celebrate this historic milestone, may we continue to protect the freedoms, opportunities, and democratic values that have made America a beacon of hope for generations.
God bless the United States of America.
