വാഷിംഗ്ടൺ ഡി.സി: അമേരിക്കൻ മലയാളി സമൂഹത്തിൽ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ സംഭാവനകൾ നൽകിയ ആദ്യകാല മലയാളി ആൻ  പിള്ള  കേരളത്തിൽ അന്തരിച്ചു. ഫൊക്കാനയുടെ ആദ്യകാല പ്രസിഡന്ടുമാരിൽ ഒരാളായ ഡോ. പാർത്ഥസാരഥി പിള്ളയുടെ പത്നിയായ ആൻ  പിള്ള കോട്ടയത്തിനടുത്ത്  ചെറുവാണ്ടൂരിൽ ആണ്  ജനിച്ചത്.

നഴ്സിംഗ് ബിരുദവും   ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദവും നേടിയ അവർ  ജർമ്മനിയിൽ   ഉന്നത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടി.  വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനും പ്രൊഫഷണൽ മികവിനും വേണ്ടിയുള്ള അവരുടെ സമർപ്പണം ജീവിതത്തിലുടനീളം അവർ സ്വയം നിശ്ചയിച്ച ഉയർന്ന നിലവാരത്തിന്റെ തെളിവായി.

സ്ഥിരോത്സാഹം, വ്യക്തിപരമായ ഉത്തരവാദിത്തം, മികവിനായി പരിശ്രമിക്കൽ എന്നിവയിൽ  വിശ്വസിച്ചിരുന്ന കഠിനാധ്വാനിയും സമർത്ഥയുമായ    സ്ത്രീയായിരുന്നു ആൻ. അച്ചടക്കം, ദൃഢനിശ്ചയം, മറ്റുള്ളവരെ സഹായിക്കാനുള്ള ആഴമായ പ്രതിബദ്ധത എന്നിവ അവരുടെ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി.

മറ്റുള്ളവരെ സഹായിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള അവരുടെ അചഞ്ചലമായ സമർപ്പണം KAGW, FOKANA, FIA, NFIA എന്നിവയുൾപ്പെടെ വിവിധ കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റി സംഘടനകളിലെ   നേതൃതലത്തിലുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലൂടെ പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ തുടർന്നു. കേരള കൾച്ചറൽ സൊസൈറ്റി ഓഫ് മെട്രോപൊളിറ്റൻ വാഷിങ്ങ്ടന്റെ ആദ്യ വനിതാ പ്രസിഡന്ടായിരുന്നു (1994) 

ഇന്ത്യയിൽ CGFNS കേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിന് ഇന്ത്യൻ സർക്കാരുമായി സഹകരിച്ചതാണ് ആന്റെ ഏറ്റവും ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ നേട്ടങ്ങളിലൊന്ന്. ഇതുമൂലം  നഴ്‌സുമാർക്ക്   ഇന്ത്യയിൽ തന്നെ NCLEX-RN പരീക്ഷ എഴുതാൻ  കഴിഞ്ഞു.   അതുവഴി അവർക്ക്  നഴ്‌സിംഗ് യോഗ്യത നേടാനും  അമേരിക്കക്കു വരാനും സഹായകമായി.

എല്ലാറ്റിനുമുപരി, അവർ  സമർപ്പിതയായ  ഭാര്യയും സ്‌നേഹനിധിയായ അമ്മയും പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട മുത്തശ്ശിയുമായിരുന്നു. കുടുംബമായിരുന്നു  ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ കേന്ദ്രം. സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവരെ പിന്തുണയ്ക്കുന്നതിലും പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിലും പരിപാലിക്കുന്നതിലും അവൾ വളരെയധികം അഭിമാനിച്ചു.   ജ്ഞാനം, ശക്തി, മാർഗ്ഗനിർദ്ദേശം എന്നിവയിലൂടെ  ഭാവി തലമുറകളെ രൂപപ്പെടുത്താൻ സഹായിച്ചു.  അവരുടെ  സ്വാധീനം   കുടുംബത്തിൽ വളർത്തിയ മൂല്യങ്ങളിലൂടെ തുടർന്നും അനുഭവപ്പെടും.

സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെയും ശക്തിയുടെയും ദൃഢനിശ്ചയത്തിന്റെയും കുടുംബത്തോടുള്ള സമർപ്പണത്തിന്റെയും ഓർമ്മകൾ  അവശേഷിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് അവർ വിടവാങ്ങിയത്.

Ann Pillai passed away peacefully, in Kerala India today, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, determination, and devotion to family. Born in Cheruvandoor Kerala, India, Ann was a woman of remarkable intelligence, resilience, and accomplishment. She pursued higher education in India before continuing her studies in Germany, where she earned her nursing degree and later a Master’s degree in Nursing. Her dedication to education and professional excellence reflected the high standards she set for herself throughout her life.

Ann was a hardworking and accomplished woman who believed in the importance of perseverance, education, personal responsibility, and striving for excellence. She approached life with discipline, determination, and a deep commitment to helping others.

Her unwavering dedication to assisting others was demonstrated through her numerous leadership roles in various community organizations, including KAGW, FOKANA, FIA, and NFIA. One of Ann’s most notable accomplishments was collaborating with the Indian government and U.S. Government to establish CGFNS centers in India. This initiative empowered nurses to obtain and successfully pass the NCLEX-RN exam, thereby gaining credentialing and paving the way for nurses in the United States.

Above all, Ann was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. Family was the center of her life, and she took great pride in supporting, encouraging, and caring for those she loved. Her wisdom, strength, and guidance helped shape future generations, and her influence will continue to be felt through the values she instilled in her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Parthasarathy Pillai; her sons, Ajay Pillai and Vijay Pillai; her daughters-in-law, Saveeta Pillai and Seema Pillai; and her grandsons, Arjun Pillaiand Vikas Pillai. She is also survived by extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, wisdom, and generosity. Friends and family will remember Ann for her sharp mind, strong character, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. She faced life’s challenges with courage and grace, always striving to create opportunities and a better future for her family.

Ann’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the example she set through a life of hard work, determination, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral arrangements are currently being finalized. We will provide further updates as soon as possible.
