This land that sprawls so big and beautiful
was peopled anciently like Ind and all;
Then came Anglo-Saxons with sword and God,
unrolled the canvas like their gift from God,
to erase all the sacred script thereon
and overwrite it grand in His own name.
They fought the cold, they fought the heat, they fought
the wilds, the natives, and among themselves.
They brought their royal wars and Afro slaves--
A nation emerged, a brave new world,
luring hungry souls from across the pond,
and third worlders colonizing in reverse.
O tell me, peoples of the teeming world:
Who wouldn’t want to come, heaven before,
to this land of plenty milk and honey,
to this city upon a shining hill!
Some think ill and Keral Commies carp:
but stay like Dwight, so faithful to this land.
America, O freedom’s beacon bright,
beautiful country thou! And thee I love,
on each July fourth renewing proudly
my solemn pledge to serve thee loyally.
Shed your growing pains and macho mien,
and lead the world to welcome peace anew▲
