After reading Jayan Varghese’s article on love and listening to Puthenkurish’s song, I felt the ache of love all over again. Whatever Jayan tries to express through his article is beautifully reflected in the song by Puthenkurish. With its Western musical touch—especially the jazz elements—it becomes an unexpectedly romantic piece. It brought back memories of my college days and the beautiful girl I once loved. I dreamed of marrying her, but my lack of courage and the insecurity of not having a job made me lose her. Today, I am married and even have grandchildren, yet the tenderness and pain of that first love still linger somewhere within me. I felt Jayan Varghese’s pain, and I also felt the romantic longing with which Puthenkurish created the song. Kudos to both. Forgive me for not revealing may name.
