ഇന്‍ഡ്യയുടെ ദേശീയ ഗാനം.. ജനഗണ മന...... (എല്‍സി യോഹന്നാന്‍ ശങ്കരത്തില്‍, നൂയോര്‍ക്ക്)

വിശ്വവിഖ്യാതനും 1913 ല്‍ നോബല്‍സമ്മാനജേതാവുമായ മഹാകവി രവീന്ദ്രനാഥ ടാഗോറിന്റെ
അഞ്ചു ഖണ്ഡികകളുള്ള ഗീതത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യ ഖണ്ഡിക 1950 ജനുവരി 4 -ന്് ദേശീയ ഗാനമായി
അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഗീതവും അര്‍ത്ഥവും ചുവടെ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു:
"ജനഗണ മന അധി നായക ജയഹേ
ഭാരതഭാഗ്യവിധാതാ
പഞ്ചാബു - സിന്ധു - ഗുജറാത്തു മറാഠാ
ദ്രാവിഡ, ഉല്‍ക്കല, ബംഗാ,
വിന്ധ്യ ഹിമാചല യമുനാ - ഗംഗാ
ഉച്ഛല ജലധി തരംഗാ
തവ ശുഭ നാമേ ജാഗേ
തവ ശുഭ ആശിഷമാഗേ
ഗാഹേ തവ ജയ ഗാഥാ
ജനഗണ മംഗള ദായക ജയഹേ
ഭാരത ഭാഗ്യ വിധാതാ
ജയഹേ, ജയഹേ, ജയഹേ
ജയ ജയ ജയ ജയഹേ. '
"അങ്ങാണ് ജനങ്ങളുടെയെല്ലാം മനസ്സിന്റെ അധിപന്‍. ഭാരതത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗ്യത്തിന്റെ വിധാതാവും. അങ്ങയുടെ നാമം പഞ്ചാബിന്റെയും, ഗുജറാത്തിന്റെയും, മറാഠയുടെയും, ദ്രാവിഡത്തിന്റെയും, ഒറീസയുടെയും, ബംഗാളിന്റെയും ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ ത്രസിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. വിന്ധ്യ, ഹിമാചല പര്‍വ്വതങ്ങളില്‍ അതു പ്രതിധ്വനിക്കുന്നു. ഗംഗയുടെയും യമുനയുടെയും സംഗീതത്തില്‍ അത് അലിയുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യാ സമുദ്രത്തിന്റെ ഓളങ്ങള്‍ അതേറ്റു പാടുന്നു. അവ അങ്ങയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു, സ്തുതി ആലപിക്കുന്നു. ജനങ്ങളുടെ രക്ഷ അങ്ങയുടെ കൈകളിലാണ്്. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഭാഗ്യവിധാതാവേ, ജയം, ജയം, അങ്ങേയ്ക്കു ജയം.'
