It is very important that we plan to have a national leader as prime minister who can see India as one by joining forces with groups with similar concerns. Doing nothing as a spectator, waiting for news to talk about is not the right strategy. We can influence to create news if we work together. Most visionaries can see that Modi coming to power can lead to the downfall of India by his divisive spirit that can lead to outside forces exploiting the situation to turn one group against another as is happening in Syria now. Once Modi come to power, extremists in BJP and RSS will lift their ugly heads to persecute other religious groups, and Modi will be incapable of controlling them. Right now people who identify with fundametalist Hindu faith, see in Modi their identity. They might feel good about Modi coming to power now. They do not see the downfall that can come later. History will repeat itself if we do not learn from history. It is wishful thinking to dream of a wonderful India, and forget the past history of Modi. So it is in the best interest of all- Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Communists (a faith only), Sikhs and other regional groups to join together to prevent this from happening.

What a nice show, no? Fanatic groups are trying to get votes for an infamous leader, who will again cause a partition of India

In a corruption ridden country where the chief source of corruption is the Congress and its leaders, Narendra Modi shines for his impeccable integrity. He has focused his entire energy on building in Gujarat an able administration and good governance. He has achieved phenomenal development and economic growth, and at the same time bolstered social inclusiveness. Through these he has worked hard to regain the confidence of the minorities, even as the relentless and pervasive hate campaign against him has continued unabated in the electronic media, among the fashionable intellectuals and civil society activists, who have become the media sweethearts.

Corruption is bad. But country is more important. If the country will be divided on religious lines with Modi, what is the use? We need more civilized leader as PM. Hitler too was very efficient.
The supporters seen here are obviously liberals and Democrats in America. But for India, they are going with the right wing religious leader. It is a shame.
George Texas 2014-02-18 12:54:12

The anti-Modi myth number one is that he is akin to Hitler. Comparing the CM to possibly one of the most evil leaders on earth makes sensational copy, but is not factually correct. Yes, the post-Godhra riots targeted a particular religion . However, the scale, its organized and unprovoked nature, the extent and time period of the holocaust were at an entirely different level. Most importantly, Hitler was dictator of Germany at that point. He had dissolved democracy and controlled the army. Not obeying his orders could mean execution. The Gujarat CM, or any CM in India, doesn’t have a fraction of Hitler’s powers. Our CMs cannot order the army or central forces to shoot civilians . Only the state police reports to the CM.

George Texas 2014-02-18 13:09:31

The second anti-Modi myth is that he is deeply communal, and given half a chance he would destroy the country’s secular fabric. But the fact is, no politician is ever deeply anything. Politicians react to opportunities. Whatever people want, is the way the politicians behave. The same government that was silent on corruption now speaks about the cleanup required in politics , after the scare of the Anna movement. In 2002, the mood of the nation was completely different . Imagine late 2001. The 9/11 attacks, followed by a major Kashmir bomb attack in October , the Parliament attack in December, and the burning of kar sevaks in Gujarat in February 2002 — all of these were linked to Islamist groups. There was fear in the minds of people and opportunistic politicians exploited it. Today, things are different. Non-secular politicians cannot survive, at least at the national level. Smart politicians understand this. With such intense scrutiny on Modi it is unlikely he will make even so much as a communal comment anytime soon.

George Texas 2014-02-18 13:10:39

The third anti-Modi myth is that his development work in Gujarat does not matter. It does, especially now, as the middle class cares more about corruption and good governance than ever before.

Stop drinking the Modi Kool Aid Texans

George Texas must be a Hindutva guy in a fake name. He numbers three myths. They are myths for him, but not for others. He says that Modi was a small guy compared to Hitler. Sure. The damage done by Modi was limited. We all remember Vajpayee asking him to do 'Rajadharma,' for allowing mobs to kill innocent people. The writer says he will not behave like that in future. Any guarantee?
Modi is coming to power on comunal ideology of hate by RSS. The RSS wants to make India Hindurashtra and declare Muslims and Christians second class citizens. One who believes in that ideology will become a dove when he gets power? No way. What will RSS and others will do under him?
Gujarat was always developed. Moreover, money from Gujaratis worldwide go there. Yet, poverty and anemia is more there. A poor Kerala is much better on all those things.
Pl read the article by Zacharia. I think it was in emalayalee. If you love India, Indian democracy and people, dont vote for this guy.

"We don't have any problem with Narendra Modi. We are getting good feedback from our believers settled in Gujarat," explained Metropolitan Thomas Mar Themotheos of the Kottayam diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church.

We should also agree that BJP has changed a lot . If BJP elected to power they should have keep respect with   the constitution.  MODI has not mentioned a word about building ayodhya temple  so far. I think BJP learned from their past. They proved  better governance in few states and got the mandate .Majority of Indians want Non Congress Government in Center. BJP  is the best stable option for Indias Growth,

As a real politician, Modi is not stupid to show off his real intentions before the election. Wait and see to see the real colors. When politicians implement their hidden agenda, they do not consult you and I. remember Bush and the Iraq war. But in politics, supporters usually identify with a person or party. In majority of cases they do not know the party manifesto, or policies. In many cases, if you are a Democrat, and if I do not like you, then I proclaim loudly that I am a Republican. That deep is the affiliation in most cases. People generally want their side to win. They feel good about it. They do not worry much about the consequences. Did Obama mentioned anything about his support for Gays and Lesbians in his campaign? No! Now many are disenchanted with him.

As our country needs the dynamic personality who can lead our country from front side and must have courage to take the right decision on every moment .. Why i support to Mr. Modi because of this attitude, and i think he has that ability to run our democracy in right way..... If people have seen what happened in last few years with the current government and still will ignore the entire issue then really our Country"s future is in the hand of God... I think we people must give him one chance to see the result... MODI LAO DESH BECHAO ....

I am not a fan of modi because he is popular or good crowd puller but i like him because the way he governs the state i live in. I have been and worked in govt. Sector in more than three states but failed to see less corrupt and administered system I found in gujarat. At the end of the day, I thank god for giving.me birth in gujarat rather than any other state. Also there has been many debate about gujarat progress as an economic and social hub which modi usually flaunts it in his speech. Why should not a person cherish his achievement if he has succeded in it more.than any other predecessor.
keralite 2014-02-19 05:53:22
It is not about good governance or capable governance. It is about democracy. Do we want a democratic government, not a religious government? Do we want to keep the freedoms in a democracy? Then we need a civilized leader and ideology.
Why focus on Modi and his achievements? Focus on RSS and its religious supramascisom and hatred.  Modi will be a puppet of RSS. Do we want that? Do we want a Hindu rashtra? If we do not want a Christian rashtra or even the Republicans in America, do we need worse things in our motherland?
The election is not about an individual.
thomas koovalloor 2014-02-19 20:02:46
The whole world know that 85 Percent of the Indians are Hindus, still a minority Christians, were ruling India for the past 66 years, and they divided India in to many pieces. After India was divided by the British, instead of Nehru, if Sardar Patel became the Prime Minister, then India would have been the most developed and powerful nation among other developed countries. In my opinion, time has come, majority of Indians realized what happened to them. Let the BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi lead India this time. I fully support Modi. Congress dynasty is over, and now let the majority Hindus rule India, there is nothing wrong with it. Why the Congress and other minority parties worrying about it. Jai Hind!
keralite 2014-02-20 05:58:00
Christians ruling India? Funny. Many people in America believe that Obama is a Muslim. But the majority elected him leader. Congress was also elected by the majority Hindus. So they are not supporters of Hindutva or RSS.
It is not about Congress or Modi. The election is about democracy in India. Do we want RSS rule?
Also, we do not want Christian rule in America, though the country's 95 percent people are Christians. In America, Christians cannot even place a cross in Mojave desert.

At least Mr.Anthappan  don't have any problem with Modi.He is more bothered about the people organised it. Thank you Anthappan for ur appreciation .
