A Parent’s Guide

From my earliest days you were just there,

Helping me take my first steps to shine bright,

Always showering me with loads of care.

My actions may test your patience real tight,

Yet you stand firm and lead me with all your might,

Catering to all of my crazy needs,

Last minute Wal-Mart runs without a fight.

I was always a tough child to make pleased,

But put up with me because you love me.

You always hold me up when I fall down,

Guiding me though what is right and wrong,

Working hard to make me smile when I frown,

Providing me with things for which I long,

Making me a better person: smart and strong.

Perfect mother and father, side by side,

Preparing me for what it to come along.

You both work hard; always you tried,

To do what is best for me and being my guide.

No words can measure what you have both done,

No ‘thank you s’ or hugs are enough,

To show my gratitude for these loved ones,

I love you both even when times get rough,

When my life gets busy with all sorts of stuff,

And when I forget to say I love you,

Because I think I have become hot stuff,

It is all because both of you two,

And your unconditional love for me, so thank you.
