Defund the police? Black lives matter? With the tragic death of Mr. Floyd, lot of protestors took to the streets. This was supposed to be peaceful protests. But, what did we see? Lot of businesses were damaged and many people were injured. I believe the goal was to turn America into a non-racist country. Only time can tell whether this goal can be achieved or not. Every time there is a mass shooting, gun control becomes a topic of interest. As time goes by, it becomes a part of the history. Life goes on except the victim's family. "Defunding" the police is the most senseless idea. Majority of the police officers are good human beings. Occasionally, we see some careless actions from some. Is that a reason for "Defunding" the police? Police, like any other department, needs mandatory continuing education on a regular basis. Government must allocate more funds for this purpose if necessary. They need special training to deal with looters. As we always see, politicians and other opportunists take this opportunity to promote their agenda. One would think that good judgement is associated with higher education. That is not always true. We have seen classic examples recently. Surely, Black Lives Matter like any other group of people which includes the unborn. Note: I used to write under "Jose". Recently, someone is using that name. So I have used "Joseph" for this comment. My request to discourage fake names was never acknowledged by "EMalayalee"
