നിര്‍ഭയ കൂട്ടബലാത്സംഗ കേസിലെ 4 പ്രതികളെയും തൂക്കിലേറ്റി
ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: നിര്‍ഭയ കൂട്ടബലാത്സംഗ കേസിലെ പ്രതികളായ അക്ഷയ് ഠാകുര്‍ (31), പവന്‍ ഗുപ്ത (25), വിനയ് ശര്‍മ (26), മുകേഷ് സിങ് (32) എന്നിവരെ തൂക്കിലേറ്റി. വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച കാലത്ത് 5.30ന് തിഹാര്‍ ജയിലിലാണ് നാലു പേരുടെയും വധശിക്ഷ നടപ്പാക്കിയത്.
വധശിക്ഷ തടയണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് മൂന്നു പ്രതികള്‍ സമര്‍പ്പിച്ച ഹരജികള്‍ കോടതി തള്ളിയതിന് പിന്നാലെയാണ് ശിക്ഷ നടപ്പാക്കിയത്. ഒരാളുടെ ദയാഹരജി ഇപ്പോഴും പരിഗണിച്ചിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് കാണിച്ച് അക്ഷയ് ഠാകുര്‍, പവന്‍ ഗുപ്ത, വിനയ് ശര്‍മ എന്നിവരാണ് കോടതിയെ സമീപ്പിച്ചത്. നേരത്തെ, പ്രതികള്‍ സമര്‍പ്പിച്ച ദയാഹരജികള്‍ രാഷ്ട്രപതി തള്ളിയിരുന്നു.
അഫ്‌സല്‍ ഗുരുവിന്റെ വധശിക്ഷ നടപ്പാക്കി ഏഴു വര്‍ഷത്തിനു ശേഷമാണ് തിഹാറില്‍ വീണ്ടും കൊലക്കയര്‍ ഒരുക്കിയത്.
2012 ഡിസംബര്‍ 16ന് രാത്രിയാണ് 23 വയസുള്ള യുവതിയെ പ്രതികള്‍ ഡല്‍ഹിയിലെ ഓടുന്ന ബസില്‍ ക്രൂര ബലാത്സംഗത്തിനിരയാക്കി വഴിയില്‍ തള്ളിയത്. ഫിസിയോതെറപ്പി പരിശീലനം നേടുന്ന പെണ്‍കുട്ടി ആണ്‍ സുഹൃത്തിനൊപ്പമാണ് ബസില്‍ കയറിയത്.
11 ദിവസത്തിനു ശേഷം പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ വിദഗ്ധ ചികിത്സക്കായി സിംഗപ്പൂരിലെ ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടു പോയെങ്കിലും രണ്ടു ദിവസത്തിനു ശേഷം മരണത്തിന് കീഴടങ്ങി. ആറു പ്രതികളില്‍ ഒരാളായ രാംസിങ് 2013ല്‍ പൊലീസ് കസ്റ്റഡിയില്‍ മരിച്ചു.
ബലാത്സംഗം നടക്കുമ്പോള്‍ തനിക്ക് പ്രായപൂര്‍ത്തിയായിരുന്നില്ലെന്നു കാണിച്ച് സമര്‍പ്പിച്ച ഹരജി തള്ളിയതിനെതിരെ പവന്‍ ഗുപ്ത നല്‍കിയ തിരുത്തല്‍ ഹരജിയും വ്യാഴാഴ്ച ജസ്റ്റിസ് എന്‍.വി. രമണ അധ്യക്ഷനായ ആറംഗ സുപ്രീംകോടതി ബെഞ്ച് തള്ളിയിരുന്നു.
Justice delayed, but not denied: Nirbhaya's mother
New Delhi, March 20 (IANS) Nirbhaya's mother, who has waited with baited breath to see the day when finally her daughter's rapists would be hanged, could not contain her satisfaction when the confirmation of hanging of four convicts in the gang rape and murder case came in a little after 5.35 a.m. on Friday.
In her first reaction, she expressed satisfaction that justice was finally delivered.
Speaking to the throng of media personnel waiting outside her residence, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said that her faith in the judiciary had been vindicated.
A visibly relieved Asha Devi said that the hangings of the four convicts would send a strong signal for deterrence. "Our fight for security of daughters across the country will continue" she said.
"I returned from the Supreme Court, hugged my daughter's photograph and told her: 'Today, justice has been delivered'."
"I dedicate this day -- March 20 to all the women in the country because #Nirbhaya got justice, today," she said.
She said: "Proud to be known as Nirbhaya's mother. She fought so hard. And I have waited long to see this day. The flaw in our justice system were exposed. But finally all four were hanged in one go. A first of its kind of justice, which will definitely be a lesson to others."
"Will continue this struggle for other daughters in the country," she said and remembered all the unfulfilled dreams of her child, whom she could not save.
Friday morning's hanging of the four convicts brings to an end the seven year quest for justice by the parents of the young girl who was brutally gang raped by six persons in Delhi, in December 2012.
Hanged finally! Crowd celebrates as clock strikes 5.30 a.m.
New Delhi, March 20 (IANS) As the clock struck 5.30 a.m. on Friday the crowd assembled outside the Tihar Jail burst into celebration and even distributed sweets.
Slogans of 'Nirbhaya zindabad' and 'live long Nirbhaya' were also raised.
As the countdown to the hanging of four death-row convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case entered its final phase, the crowd loudly did the final countdown; a handful of posters reading "thanks to judiciary" and "the morning of justice" also were propped up outside the Tihar Jail premises.
The four rapists were finally hanged seven years after they and two others brutally gang raped the 23-year-old physiotherapy student and left her to die by the roadside.
