The original inhabitants of India were the dark skinned Dravidiians as the authors of the Indus valley civilization. The Aryans came later by 1500 BC, although the BJP government is trying to rewrite history with the theory that Aryans were indigenous to this place. The Dravidiians were pushed to the south eventually to become the four southern Dravidian states. Aryan rulers continued the conquering of the south from Asoka’s time onwards. Is it reasonable to assume that the Nair and Pilla groups are the Dravidian elements and the Marthanda Varma’s ancestors from the Aryan elements from north? One clue is in their appointing Brahmins (paradesi Brhamins) to important positions. Was it Makkathayam or Marumakkathayam followed by the ‘Paradesi Brahmins’ and the Raja kudumbam of Marthanda Varma?
