ONE MORE YEAR (Poem : Samgeev)
The soil was rich and the season bright
The farmer plantes the seed in the fertile earth
He watered the seeding day and night
Watched the fig tree grow day by day.

The Sprouts shot up as his pride
The Foliage was large and wide
The fig tree blossomed in its time
The Fragrance went far and wide.

The farmer was waiting for the fruit
He was proud for he tilled and watered
The Flowers danced in the breeze
Alsa! The Fruit didnit come, the hope was shattered.

The Master came one day to see the crop
He looked at the fig tree mighty and green
He looked for fruit among the leaves
But he could not find any fruit, but leaves.

The order came from the Master
'Chop it down and cut it off
Why Should it waste the land?
Why should we waste our time and sweat?'
'Master, one more year'the farmer said
perhaps one fruit may come next year
Don't send the axe now, no, not this year
Let it stand for one more year'.

Note:
The poem is based on the parable of the barren fig tree.
Then Jesus told this parable: 'A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and found none. So he said to the gardener, 'See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil?' He replied, 'Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put manure on it. If it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.' '
