Medical Center
in West Brighton following the crash on
Tuesday at about 3:55 p.m on Parkview Loop, according to a preliminary
investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
Officers responding to a 911 call of a motor vehicle
collision saw a 77-year-old man inside a 2007 Honda Accord that allegedly
struck Kamalakshan at that location, according to a police statement.
The 77-year-old man was traveling southbound on Christopher
Lane when he lost control of his Accord and struck the rear of Kamalakshan’s
parked and unoccupied 1999 Honda Odyssey minivan, the police statement said.
As Kamalakshan approached the rear of the Honda Accord, the
77-year old driver allegedly put the car into reverse and struck the
68-year-old woman. The driver lost control of his vehicle as it careened into a
nearby wooded area where it came to a rest, according to the police statement.
EMS transported the 77-year-old male driver to Richmond University Medical
Center in stable
condition, the police statement said.
There are no arrests and no criminality suspected, the
police statement said.
The NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad investigation
continues, according to the statement.
