Sosamma Chacko was promoted to glory on May 1, 2020 at 11:04 pm EST. Born on August 24, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Mr. K. Thomas and late Mrs. Aleyamma Thomas of Kaduvathukkal House, Thumpamon, Kerala. 

She was a devoted wife to the late Mr. KM Chacko, Kathikapallil Peedikayil House, Angadical, Puthencavu P.O., Chengannur. She was an active member of St. Thomas Evangelical Church of India, Puthencavu Parish. She would often graciously host the Lord’s servants. She was blessed with 7 daughters - Susamma Itty, late Gracy Thomas, Molly Thomas, Leelamma Thomas, Valsa Rajusam, Lizy Raju and Sarasu Thomas. Her son in laws include Pastor Itty Abraham, M. M. Thomas, late T. C. Thomas, late Daniel Thomas, Rajusam Kuruvilla, Raju Thomas and Thomas Kuruvilla.

She immigrated to the U.S. on November 10, 1996. She lived with her youngest daughter, Sarasu Thomas, in East Meadow before she moved to Parker Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Hyde Park, NY. After moving to the U.S., she was a member of the NY Pentecostal Assembly. She also enjoyed fellowship with the St. Thomas Evangelical Church of India, Queens Parish. She is survived by 12 grandchildren - Lisa, Leslie, Joji, Jijo, Rincy, Nisha, Neethu, Teena, Reena, Justin, Joel and Jerry, and 8 great grandchildren – Jiya, Dhaya, Jewel, Ahana, Alana, Joshua, Johanna, and Gabriella. She adored and doted upon each one abundantly.

Her joy was found in caring for her family, spending time in prayer and nurturing her children in the fear of God. She was full of compassion and love. She embodied the spirit of Ruth in her calming and gentle presence, her remarkable trust in the Lord, and her loyalty to her in-laws and family. Her faith was unshakeable and her love and passion for Christ was unfeign. Her expression of love was evident in her love of cooking for her family and nurturing her children in the fear of God. During her extended illness, she never lost her ability to smile. She loved to recite memory verses and sing hymns, even on her deathbed. Before she went with the Lord, she proclaimed, “Yesuvin Raktham Jayam.” She left this great legacy of faith for all of us to follow.

Sosamma Chacko will be laid to rest at Pine Lawn Cemetery, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY in a private family ceremony on May 08, 2020 at 11am EST.
