New York : Recently I got the opportunity to attend a film festival ‘Gold Coast International Film Festival’ and watch a movie “ When Harry Tries to Marry’.

It is an Indo- American Movie and it was made in USA and in India. This film festival was held in Clearview Theater in Port Washington, Long Island, New York. There was a fund raising dinner party at Diwan Restaurant in Port Washington, Long Island after the screening of Harry tries to Marry ‘ and the proceeds of this event was went to the charitable activities of AIA Project India based in Gujarat. Project India is raising funds for the service for the HIV/AIDS Patients in India.

This event was jointly organized by The Association of Indians in America Inc (AIA) and Gold Coast International Film Festival. Most of the cast and crew members were there at the screening and at the fund raising dinner.

This movie is about a young Indian born bachelor who lives in New York. His name was Harry. His parents were divorced and that made him confused about marriage and relationships. He also preferred to have an arranged marriage. Somehow he found a good girl from India through the family connections and decided to marry her. They started to have conversations through internet and that relationship was growing strong. In the meantime Harry got confused about his friendship with his classmate Theresa, an American student. 
 Anyway Harry still planned to marry the Indian girl. The family members and  three more friends including Theresa went to India to attend Harry’s marriage.

The climax is very touching......   

When Harry tries to Marry was produced by Nayan Padrai, Sheetal Vyas, Ritu Ahuja, Bhushan Thakkar and Ralph Stein. It was directed by Nayan Padrai. The main Cast members were Rahul Rai, Stefanie Estes, Freishia Bomanbehram, Osvaldo Chavez Hernandez, Caitlin Gold, Zenobia Shroff, Tony Mirrcandani, Grant Kretchik, Kanti Pandya, Jagdish Patel, Lauren LoGuidice and Micky Makhija. Screenplay was done by Ralph Stein and Nayan Padrai.

Harry tries to marry was screened in several major film festivals and won several awards. Details are given below.
