വിസ്‌കോണ്‍സിന്‍: യു.എസ്. ഹൗസ് സ്പീക്കര്‍ പോള്‍ റയന് (46) യു. എസ് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിലേക്കുള്ള റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കൻ പ്രൈമറിയില്‍ അനായാസ വിജയം കരസ്ഥമാക്കി.
ശക്തനായ എതിരാളി പോള്‍ നെല്ലനെയാണ് റയണ്‍ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തിയത്.
റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കന്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടി നോമിനി ട്രംബ് അവസാന നിമിഷം വരെ പോള്‍ റയനെ എന്‍ഡോഴ്‌സ് ചെയ്യുന്നതിന് മടിച്ചുവെങ്കിലും, കഴിഞ്ഞ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച പോള്‍ റയനെ എന്‍ഡോഴ്‌സ് ചെയ്യുന്നതായി ട്രമ്പ് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത് പോളിന് വിജയം അനായാസമാക്കി.
പോള്‍ റയന് മത്സരിച്ച വിസ്‌കോണ്‍സില്‍ ഫസ്റ്റ് കോണ്‍ഗ്രഷ്ണല്‍ സീറ്റില്‍ ട്രമ്പിന് കനത്ത പരാജയമാണ് സംഭവിച്ചത്. ഇവിടെ ടെഡ് ക്രൂസിനായിരുന്നു വിജയം.
വിജയത്തിനുശേഷം നടത്തിയ പ്രസ്താവനയില്‍ റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കന്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടി ഇത്തവണ വൈറ്റ് ഹൗസ് ഭരണം പിടിച്ചെടുക്കുമെന്നും, ഒബാമയുടെ തുടര്‍ ഭരണത്തിന് കനത്ത തിരിച്ചടി ലഭിക്കുമെന്നും റയന് പ്രത്യാശ പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.
