10th Pravasi Bharathi Day Celebrations were held in Triavndrum from
9th to 11th January, 2012. As in the previous years, political and
social leaders, NRIs, businessmen, educationalists and artists were
honoured with   Pravasi Bharathi (Kerala) awards in the valedictory
function. The inaugural ceremony was held on 9th January, 2012 at
Gandhi Park, Trivandrum and the function was inaugurated by hon.deputy
speaker of Kerala Legislative assembly Sri.N.Sakthan. Hon. Opposition
leader Sri. V.S.Achuthanandan was also present on the occasion and
Chief Guest and  received the Pravasi Bharathi (Kerala) “Man of Vision
Award” which was declared in his name in the Pravasi Bharathi Day
Celebrations held in 2011. Deputy speaker Sri.N.Sakthan presented the
award to Sri.V.S.Achuthanandan. Sri.Cheriyan Philip, Sri.Kayikkara
Babu, S.Ahamed, Talhat Poovachal, Saju Edakkadu, Kadakkal Ramesh,
I.V.Prabhakaran, Parippally  Sugathan and M.H.M Hashim Kollam
participated in the function. Entertainment programs were also there
at the end of the function for two hours.

On the second day on 10th January at 11 AM there was a seminar on
“Pravasi Pension and rehabilitation” at Harmony hall, Mascot Hotel
which was inaugurated by hon. Minister Dr.M.K.Muneer. Former ministers
Sri.M.M.Hassan, Sri.C.Divakaran and former MP Sri.Pannyan Raveendran ,
Sri.G.Maheen Aboobaker, Sri.S. Suvarnakumar, Hantex MD Sri. Abdul
Haleem , Saji Edakkadu (Dubai), Sageer Trikarpur (Kuwait) , Kalapremi
Basheer Babu and I.V.Prabahakaran participated in the seminar.

On the third day on 10th January was the valedictory function and
award distribution which was inaugurated by Tourism Minister
Sri.A.P.Anilkumar in the presence of Prof. T.J.chandrachoodan,
Sri.Abdurahman Randathani MLA, former Minister Sri.V.Surendran Pillai,
Mayor Adv.K.Chandrika, Karamana Jayan and dignitaries from different
parts of the world.  Film actress Chippy was also present on the
occasion to receive the award on behalf of Sukumari.  Other award
recipients are Kanthapuram Abubaker Musaliar, K.Mraleedharan MLA,
Sohan Roy (Hollywood Director), Johny Lukose (Manorama News), Babu
John (Chairman, Sky Jewellery), Dr.P.C.Thomas (Principal, Good
Shepherd International School, Ootty), Aney Paul (New York, USA),
E.P.Sulaiman Haji ( Abu Dhabi), Chevalier C.V.Chakkunni ( Kozhikode),
A.K.Faisal (Malabar Gold), T.A.Ramesh (Kuwait), S.A.Labba  (Kuwait),
Sageer Trikarpur  ( Kuwait) , Dr.Jayapal ( HOD, Cardiology Dept,
General Hospital, Tvm), Dr.Nirmala Raghunathan ( President, AKMG,
Dubai), Raghavan Nambiar( Malaysia), Mehroob Manalodi (MD, G-Tech,
Kozhikode), P.T.M.Suneesh  (MD, KSWDC), Manu C.Kannur (Telefilm
Director), Dr.V.Sunilkumar (MD, Poultry Dev.Corpn), P.Rajendran (MD,
KSFE) and Dr.Stanly Jain (Asst.Surgeon, Gen. Hospital, Tvm).

Previous years’ award winners were also honoured in the function.
Raghavan Nambiar from Malaysia presented a memento to S.Ahamed as a
token love from the Keralites in Malaysia.
