I Remember the FOMAA Youth Festival James Illickal as Chairman conducted in Florida was a Memorable one during John Titus and Salim's Administration. He is a great leader and will bring lot of Good things to FOMAA. So does Saji Karimpanoor, did an outstanding job publishing the Souvenier under John Titus administartion and did an Excellent Job as RVP under Sashidharan Nair and Aniyan George Administration. Good Choice for FOMAA.

“I enjoyed the beautiful exposition of the life and ideals of Pope John XXIII. I felt it like a sermon from retreat preacher with great spiritual insight. I had the rare opportunity to be in Rome to bury that great soul and enthrone his successor Paul VI. Of the two declared saints, why only John is praised sky high by most of the writers? Is it not because of they both stand poles apart in their ideals and life lived? By praising one and keeping quiet about the second they say a lot without saying, in order not to appear as judgmental about the second. Yes John and Francis are birds of the same feather. They both like Francis of Assisi are at home only with poor, marginalized, exploited and weeping. Pope John has always been my idol of adoration. To the erring his exhortation was always "to use the medicine of Mercy" rather than punishment. He was always critical, but critical first about himself and his worthlessness. "To sweep clean the dust of empire accumulated on the throne of Peter" was the reason he gave for convening Vatican II. In it his first attack was against the sullied seat of Peter he was occupying. The dust on it must be swept clean which means all reform must start with self-reform starting with each one impatient with a church which may appear more as a prostitute than a teacher. Mother and prostitute (Mater ET meretrix) while called to be Mother and Teacher (Mater ET Magistra) is the present state of the church. I am infallible only when I happen to say the truth that is how he described his ability to hand out infallible pronouncements. And to the Protestants he said: "I am your brother John" and they responded with a brotherly embrace. Pope Francis is doing the same when he dialogues with Atheist editors and respond first with an embrace to the question of the Editor: "Can I embrace you?" What an awful number of lessons have we from Pope John and Francis? Are we listening, are our bishops listening, is the church in India listening, or is there a church in India at all, instead of churches divided among themselves as Latin, Syro (Zero) Malabar and Syromalankara competing among themselves for territorial expansion and empire building instead of copying the examples of John and Francis to become pastors with the smell of the sheep? These I think are the questions we should ponder very seriously. Thank you Joseph Padannamakkel for the inspiring article and continue to inspire us more... James kottoor

This was a commendable Job by the Malayalee Community in Chicago. Let us hope and pray that the truth will come out soon. Nice to see the Mayor of Carbondale attended this event, great that leaders in Chiacgo were able to bring him to this meeting. Hope he can put some pressure on the City Police. Great Job by Rev. Daniel Thomas, Gladson Varghese, Cheriyan Venkadath, Indian community in Carbondale etc... for organizing this event. It was televised in ABC and Fox News. Hats of to the Indian community.
