ഓര്‍ത്തോഡോക്‌സ് വൈദീക സെമിനാരിയുടെ പുതിയ പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പലായി മലങ്കര സഭയിലെ പ്രശസ്ത വാഗ്മിയും, ചിന്തകനും, എഴുത്തുകാരനുമായ ഫാ. ഡോ. ഒ. തോമസ് ചാര്‍ജ് എടുത്തു. ഫാ. ഡോ. ജേക്കബ് കുര്യന്‍ കാലാവധി പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയ ഒഴിവിലേക്ക് മലങ്കര ഓര്‍ത്തോഡോക്‌സ് സഭയുടെ പരമാധ്യക്ഷന്‍ പരിശുദ്ധ ബസേലിയോസ് മാര്‍ത്തോമ പൌലോസ് ദ്വിതീയന്‍ നിയമിച്ചതനുസരിച്ചാണ് ഫാ. ഡോ. ഒ. തോമസിനെ മെയ് ഒന്നു മുതല്‍ പഴയ സെമിനാരി പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പലായി ചാര്‍ജ് എടുത്തത്. വൈദീക സെമിനാരിയില്‍ നടന്ന ഹ്രസ്വമായ ചടങ്ങില്‍ ഫാ. ഡോ. ജേക്കബ് കുര്യന്‍ പുതിയ പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പലിന് എല്ലാ ആശംസകളും നേര്‍ന്നു. വൈദീക സെമിനാരിയില്‍ ഇന്ന് രാവില 9 നു നടന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ ഫാ.ഡോ.റ്റി ഐ വര്‍ഗീസ്, ഫാ.ഡോ.എം പി ജോര്‍ജ് ,ഫാ.ഡോ.ജോണ്‍ തോമസ് കരിങ്ങാട്ടില്‍, ഫാ.ഡോ.നൈനാന്‍ കെ ജോര്‍ജ്ജ്, ഫാ.ഡോ.റജി മാത്യൂസ്, ഫാ.ഡോ. യൂഹാനോന്‍ റമ്പാന്‍, പഴയ സെമിനാരി മാനേജര്‍ ഫാ.എം.സി കുറിയാക്കോസ് എന്നിവര്‍ ആശംസകള്‍ നേര്‍ന്നു.

1981 മുതല്‍ വൈദീക സെമിനാരിയില്‍ അധ്യാപകനായും, പ്രൊഫസറായും സേവനം അനുഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഫാ. ഡോ. ഒ. തോമസ് കേരള സര്‍വകലാശാലയില്‍ നിന്നും സോഷ്യോളജിയില്‍ ബിരുദാനന്തരബിരുദവും, വൈദീക സെമിനാരിയില്‍ നിന്നും ബാച്ചിലര്‍ ഒഫ് ഡിവിനിറ്റിയും, ബംഗ്ലൂര്‍ യു.റ്റി.സി യില്‍ നിന്നും ബിരുദാനന്തരബിരുദവും സെറാമ്പൂര്‍ സര്‍വകലാശാലയില്‍ നിന്നും, തിയോളജിയില്‍ പി.എച്ച് .ഡി യും കരസ്ഥമാക്കി. ലണ്ടന്‍ ഹയ്‌ത്രോപ് സര്‍വകലാശാലയില്‍ നിന്നും പ്രാക്റ്റിക്കല്‍ തിയോളജിയില്‍ പോസ്റ്റ് ഡോക്ടറല്‍ ഫെലോഷിപ്പും നേടി.

വൈദീക സെമിനാരിയുടെ ബര്‍സാര്‍ ആയി സേവനം അനുഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അച്ഛന്‍ മലങ്കര സഭയിലെ കണ്‍വന്‍ഷന്‍ വേദികളില്‍ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ പ്രസംഗങ്ങളാല്‍ ശ്രോതാക്കളുടെ ഹൃദയം കവര്‍ന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. വൈദീക സെമിനാരിയില്‍ ക്രിസ്തിയന്‍ മിനിസ്റ്ററി, പാസ്റ്ററല്‍ കൌണ്‍സിലിഗ്, സൈക്കോളജി, മാരിയേജ് & കൌണ്‍സിലിംഗ് എന്നിവയുടെ ചുമതലയും വഹിക്കുന്നു

മലങ്കര സഭയുടെ വൈദീക ട്രസ്റ്റി(20042007), സണ്ടേസ്‌കൂള്‍ ഡയറക്ടര്‍, ദൂതന്‍ പുരോഹിത മാസിക ചീഫ് എഡിറ്റര്‍, ഓര്‍ത്തഡോക്‌സ് ക്രിസ്ത്യന്‍ യൂത്ത് മൂവ്‌മെന്റ് ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി (198090) സെന്റ് പോള്‍സ് മിഷന്‍ ട്രയ് നിഗ് സെന്റര്‍ പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പല്‍(19862001) , മലങ്കര സഭാ മാനേജിഗ് കമ്മറ്റി അംഗം എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. മാവേലിക്കര ഭദ്രസനത്തില്‍പെട്ട ചേപ്പാട് സെന്റ് ജോര്‍ജ് ഓര്‍ത്തഡോക്‌സ് ഇടവക അംഗമാണ്.

Rev.Fr.Dr.O Thomas takes charge as the Principal of Orthodox Theological Seminary Seminary, Kottayam

Dr.O Thomas, the new principal of Orthodox Theological Seminary Seminary, Kottayam, took charge on Thursday.

Fr. Dr. O. Thomas has been professor at the Orthodox Theological Seminary since 1981. Having completed his Masters in Sociology from the Kerala Universtiy, he pursued his theological education (Bachelor in Divintiy) from the Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam. Following this he joined the United Theological Seminary, Bangalore where he completed his Masters in Theology and Doctorate in Theology from the Senate of Serampore. This was followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Practical Theology from Heythroop, London.

His principal area of teaching is Christian Ministry – Pastoral Counseling under which he covers Itnroduction to sPychology, Practical Theology, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Supervised Pastoral Counseling and Marriage and Family. Fr. O. Thomas is the Bursar at Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam and the Staff Advisor for the Parish Mission activities of the Seminary.

Fr. O. Thomas is the Coordinator for the Prtayasha Counseling Training programme of the Orthodox Theological Seminary. Fr. O. Thomas is the Director General of OSSAE and the Chief Editor of Doothan and Snehalokam. He also does counseling sessions at the Parumala Seminary (Friday) and St. Paul's Mission Training Cetnre, Mavelikara (Monday).

Fr. O. Thomas was the General Secretary of the Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (1980-90), Principle of the St. Paul's Mission Training Cetnre, Mavelikara (1986-2001), Priest Trustee of the Malankara Orthodox Church (2004-2007) and Member of the Managing Committee and Working Committee (2004-2012).
