The wise is blind to the folly s of humans. But his inner self is in tune and in rhythm with the dance of cosmos. In fact he is in the dance and he cannot separate himself from it.

He may be physically blind and that is his blessing. This way he don't have to see the foolishness of humans. So that he can concentrate fully in the cosmic dance. Once he looses the rhythm he will be out of the cosmic dance. Dancer cannot separate himself from the dance. the moment the dancer separates from the dance; there is no more dance and dancer. That is wisdom.

I think the blind astronomer could really see things but he pretended that he couldn’t.   The stranger (Could be a Pravasi Malayalee writer) who approached the astronomer, probably wanted to be friend with him and then go and claim in his literary association that the great astronomer was his friend.  Just like many American Malayaly writers that associate themselves with many famous writers in Kerala.  The astronomer understood the wicked intention of the stranger and told him that he was blind from the childhood.  When the astronomer was further questioned, he said that he has been sitting and watching the sun, moon and stars.   The stranger really got confused and left that place wondering how the blind man could watch Sun, moon, and stars.
