ഹൂസ്റ്റണ്‍: പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മോദിയുടെ അമേരിക്കന്‍ സന്ദര്‍ശനത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്നു 'ലഞ്ച് വിത്ത് മോദി' എന്ന പ്രത്യേക സമ്മേളനത്തിലേക്ക് അമേരിക്കയിലെ സെനറ്റര്‍മാര്‍ക്കും, യു.എസ് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്മാന്‍മാര്‍ക്കും, പ്രമുഖ ബിസിനസ് ഉടമകള്‍, കമ്യൂണിറ്റി നേതാക്കന്മാര്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ക്കും ക്ഷണം ലഭിച്ചു.
ഷിക്കാഗോയില്‍ നിന്ന് യു.എസ് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്മാന്‍ രാജാ കൃഷ്ണമൂര്‍ത്തി, കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്മാന്‍ ഡാനി ഡേവിസ്, യു.എസ് സെനറ്റര്‍ റിച്ചാര്‍ഡ് ഡര്‍ബിന്‍, പ്രമുഖ നേതാക്കളായ ഡോ. ഭരത് ബറായി, ഡോ. വിജയ് ഭാസ്കര്‍, ഗ്ലാഡ്‌സണ്‍ വര്‍ഗീസ്, ഡോ. സുരേഷ് റെഡ്ഡി, കൃഷ്ണ ബന്‍സാല്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ക്ക് ക്ഷണം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
കൂടാതെ യു.എസ് സെനറ്റര്‍മാരായ ജോണ്‍ കോര്‍ണിന്‍, സെനറ്റര്‍ ടെഡ് ക്രൂസ്, കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് വുമണ്‍ ഷൈല ജാക്‌സണ്‍ ലീ, ടുള്‍സി ഗബ്ബാര്‍ഡ് തുടങ്ങി അറുപതോളം യു.എസ് പൊളിറ്റിക്കല്‍ ലീഡേഴ്‌സ് 'ലഞ്ച് വിത്ത് മോദി' സ്വീകരണ ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കും.
അമ്പതിനായിരം പേര്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന റാലിയില്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മോദിക്കൊപ്പം അമേരിക്കന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഡൊണാള്‍ഡ് ട്രംപും പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. കാശ്മീര്‍ പ്രശ്‌നം നിലനില്‍ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അമേരിക്കന്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിന്റെ പിന്തുണയും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഈ ലഞ്ച് മീറ്റിംഗില്‍ തേടിയേക്കും. സംഘാടകര്‍ ഇതൊരു ചരിത്രസംഭമാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ഒരുക്കങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തിവരുന്നു.

"India’s government has long claimed that the country is one of the fastest-growing large economies in the world. That boast was a crucial part of the ruling party’s message in India’s recent election campaign — that, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the economy was in safe hands. Competence and sincerity as an economic manager is central to the image Modi has sought to project.
Unfortunately, that claim looks increasingly unsupportable. Earlier this month, official government figures revealed that the economy had been slowing for three quarters. After months of denial, the government also admitted that unemployment is higher than it has been for four decades. Now, Arvind Subramanian, a well-regarded economist who was till last year one of Modi’s most senior advisers, has argued in a Harvard working paper that India’s official figures overestimate growth by several percentage points.
